Terms Of Service

Welcome to Alyne. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Alyne website (joinalyne.com), web app (app.joinalyne.com), and related services (together, "Alyne" or the "Service"). By creating an account or using Alyne, you agree to these Terms.
1. What Alyne is
Alyne is an accountability service that matches you with a partner working toward a similar goal. You check in on your progress, see your partner's check-ins, and receive reminders and notifications. Alyne is a motivational and organizational tool — it is not medical, psychological, or professional advice. If you are working on a goal that affects your health (such as quitting a substance), please also consult a qualified professional.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old to use Alyne. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at hello@joinalyne.com.
3. Subscriptions and billing
Alyne offers a free tier and a paid subscription ("Alyne Plus") at $9.99 USD per month or $79.99 USD per year. Paid subscriptions may include a 7-day free trial; you will not be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. Prices may change; we will give you reasonable advance notice of any price change, which will take effect at your next renewal.
4. Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Manage subscription in the app. When you cancel, your paid plan remains active until the end of your current billing period, and you will not be charged again. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for details.
5. Acceptable use
Alyne connects you with real people. You agree to treat your accountability partner with respect. You will not use Alyne to harass, abuse, threaten, or deceive others; to impersonate any person; to post unlawful, hateful, or sexually explicit content; or to attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you submit to Alyne (such as goals, check-in notes, and messages). You grant us a limited licence to store, display, and process that content solely to operate and improve the Service — for example, showing your check-ins to your matched partner.
7. Partner matching
Matching is based on factors such as your selected goal. We do not guarantee a match within any particular timeframe, and we are not responsible for the conduct of other users, though we will act on reports of misconduct sent to hello@joinalyne.com.
8. Service availability
We work hard to keep Alyne running smoothly, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alyne and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose.
10. Termination
You may stop using Alyne and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 9, and 11) will survive.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continued use of Alyne after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
